Random thoughts

Does anyone else find it surprising and kind of sad that the prime minister of Canada didn't know that Conrad Black is a member of the privy council until the convictions led to questions about whether or not he'd be able to stay a member? Even I knew that, and unlike the prime minister, I'm not in the privy council.

David Chernushenko's exit from his many varied positions within the Green Party (including deputy leader senior deputy to the leader, shadow cabinet critic -- as much as one can be a shadow cabinet critic without being an MP -- and nominated candidate) does not surprise me at all. The party's decision to not give a traditional "David is super and we wish him the best" statement, but rather merely post Chernushenko's letter to supporters (a day after the fact) also does not surprise me at all. He is better off without them and I hope he is able to use his business and personal projects to promote eco-capitalism for years to come.

I sure could go for an income tax cut right about now...

Dude, it's over.

Give it up. You were nearly beaten in your own riding, saw your majority taken down to a minority and nearly lost power completely to Five-Seat Dumont. Get out while you still have some dignity.

Sellout

In a June 25 article in the National Post, Guy W. Giorno, a former Harris chief of staff, says the LCBO, the largest publicly-owned liquor retailer in the world, made too much money for even zealous Harris privatizers to wrest away from the taxpayers who own it.
Oh, it is on now.
